How Nova Works in Lever

When Nova scores a candidate, three things happen in Lever:
  1. Feedback form submitted on the candidate’s opportunity with a rating and detailed assessment
  2. Tag added to the opportunity (e.g. “Nova - 8/10”)
  3. Link to the full Nova assessment included in the feedback
All actions are attributed to a specific Lever user so your team can see who (or what) posted the score.

Setup

Nova connects to Lever via OAuth. During onboarding, you authorize Nova to access your Lever account and the integration is configured automatically.
1

Connect your Lever account

From Nova, navigate to Settings > Integrations > Lever and click Connect. You’ll be redirected to Lever to authorize access.
2

Feedback form created automatically

Nova creates a “Nova Feedback” form template in your Lever account with two fields: a rating (score) and a reasoning breakdown. No manual form setup is required.
3

Start scoring

Once connected, enable Nova on any job from the Jobs page. Scores begin posting to Lever immediately.
If you’re using Lever’s sandbox environment for testing, Nova connects to the sandbox API automatically based on your environment configuration.

Score Mapping

Nova converts its 1-10 score to Lever’s 4-point rating scale on the feedback form:
Nova ScoreLever Rating
0-21 - Strong No Hire
3-52 - No Hire
6-73 - Hire
8-104 - Strong Hire
These are the default thresholds. You can customize them in Settings > Integrations > Lever using the score mapping slider. The slider lets you drag each boundary to match your team’s calibration.
If your team considers 7+ a strong candidate, drag the “Strong Hire” threshold down to 7 so those candidates get a “4 - Strong Hire” rating in Lever.

Tags

Nova adds a score tag to each candidate’s opportunity so you can filter and sort candidates in Lever’s pipeline view. The default tag format is “Nova - 8/10” (the raw numeric score). If your team prefers the recommendation label instead, contact support to switch to “Nova - 4 - Strong Hire” format.
When a candidate is re-scored (e.g. after criteria changes), the old tag remains and a new tag is added. You can remove old tags manually in Lever.

User Attribution

All Nova actions in Lever (feedback submissions, tags) are attributed to a specific user. By default, this is the owner of the job posting. To use a dedicated system account instead, set the ATS User in Nova’s settings. This is recommended so your team can easily distinguish Nova’s automated feedback from human feedback. Configure ATS User Settings →

Automatic Candidate Filtering

Nova skips scoring for archived candidates. Only active opportunities are evaluated. If a candidate is archived after scoring starts but before it completes, the score still posts.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Nova automatically creates a “Nova Feedback” form template in Lever during setup. If the template already exists (e.g. from a previous connection), Nova reuses it.
Yes. Go to Settings > Integrations > Lever and adjust the score mapping slider. You can set any boundaries you want, as long as each threshold is higher than the previous one.
In three places: as a feedback form on the candidate’s opportunity, as a tag on the opportunity (visible in pipeline view), and as a link to the full Nova assessment in the feedback text.
Nova updates the existing feedback form with the new score and reasoning. A new tag with the updated score is also added.
